Minister

Robert E. Monroe Jr.

Robert is a native of Austin, Texas, where he was raised in a God-fearing family. From an early age, he

established a strong foundation of faith and trust in God, shaped by the values instilled in him during his

upbringing.

As a youth, Robert was actively involved in church life, serving as an usher, a servant, and a young preacher.

These formative experiences prepared his heart and mind to receive the truth of the Church of Christ later in

his life.

Robert’s spiritual journey took a pivotal turn after studying with one of his maternal aunts. Through this

guidance, in 1994 he obeyed the gospel and was added to the Glenwood Church of Christ located in Panama

City, Florida.

Since that time, Robert has been dedicated to uplifting and proclaiming the Gospel of Christ, steadfastly

walking the True Path set by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Brother Monroe has been blessed in marriage and partnership to Angela Bowser Monroe for the past twenty-

one years. Their enduring union has played a significant role in his life, providing steadfast support as he

continues his journey of faith and service. Together, they have shared a commitment to spiritual growth and

ministry, reflecting the strength and unity that comes from a loving marriage rooted in Christian values.

Brother Monroe experienced the blessing of mentorship from the late William Brown, who faithfully served as

minister at the Glenwood Church of Christ in Panama City, Florida for thirty-five years. Through Brother

Brown’s guidance, as well as the support of the elders, Brother Monroe received encouragement and

essential preparation to share the Gospel message with integrity. This mentorship also instilled in him the

importance of serving others through love, equipping him to fulfill his spiritual duties with compassion and

truth.

Brother Monroe was interim minister at Glenwood Church of Christ from 1995 to 1996, guiding the

congregation until a new minister arrived. He then served as associate minister, working with Brother Xerxes

M. Snell (1997–2001) and Brother Benjamin Griffin (2001–2003), supporting ministry efforts. In 2003, Monroe

moved to Orlando, Florida, becoming associate minister at Ninth Street Church of Christ and coordinating

evangelism; he later became deacon, continuing his service to the church.

In 2011, ready to embrace further spiritual development, personal growth, and full-time ministry, the Monroe

family made the decision to relocate to North Alabama. Their move was motivated by a desire to pursue

deeper spiritual preparation and ministry opportunities.

Upon settling in North Alabama, Brother Monroe enrolled at Heritage Christian University. He attended school

part-time, balancing his academic commitments with his professional responsibilities. During this period, he

worked full-time in the HVAC management field, demonstrating dedication both to his secular profession and

his ongoing pursuit of ministry.

After years of dedication to both his ministry and professional pursuits, Brother Monroe reached a significant

academic milestone. In 2022, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Ministry/Bible from Amridge University.

This accomplishment reflects his commitment to deepening his knowledge and understanding of biblical

principles, further equipping him for his ongoing work in service to the church and his community.During his time in North Alabama, Brother Monroe continued to generously share his God-given talents with

those around him. He consistently demonstrated a willingness to serve the Lord, embracing every

opportunity where his skills and devotion could benefit the church and the broader community.

On July 3, 2015, Brother Monroe accepted the call to serve as the minister of the Byler Road Church of Christ

in Moulton, Alabama. His commitment was evident throughout his tenure, as he faithfully labored in this role

for ten years, strengthening the congregation and advancing its spiritual mission.

Through Brother Monroe’s dedicated leadership, numerous individuals have found salvation and experienced

growth in their faith. His guidance has helped strengthen their commitment to God, fostering a deeper

spiritual connection within the congregation.

Additionally, under his direction, the church continued to be set in order, reflecting a commitment to

maintaining structure and stability in its ministry and operations. This ongoing process ensured that the

church remained focused on its spiritual mission and service to the community.

In June 2025, Brother Monroe responded to a new call to ministry, prompting him and his family to relocate to

Jacksonville, North Carolina. This move marked another chapter in his journey of faith and service, as he

embraced new opportunities to minister and support a different congregation.

Brother Monroe now serves as the minister of the Richlands Church of Christ in Richlands, North Carolina. In

this role, he continues his dedication to preaching, teaching, and guiding the congregation, drawing on his

years of experience and commitment to spiritual leadership.

Brother Monroe has delivered sermons throughout the southeastern United States, participating in revival

meetings, homecomings, youth events, workshops, and lectureships at both state and regional levels. His

dedication to sharing the gospel has allowed him to reach and inspire a wide range of audiences, contributing

to spiritual growth across various communities.

Beyond his preaching responsibilities, Brother Monroe demonstrates a strong commitment to serving his

local community. In the past he devoted significant time to volunteering, particularly by coaching his sons’

little league football teams. This role provided him with opportunities to positively influence the lives of young

people, offering guidance and encouragement both on and off the field.

Brother Monroe’s dedication extends to mentoring young men, where he has actively encouraged them to

lead lives grounded in faith and positive values. Through his mentorship, he has helped instill principles that

align with spiritual teachings, guiding youth toward godly living and motivating them to pursue constructive,

faith-driven goals. His involvement in these activities reflects his desire to nurture the next generation and

support the development of strong character within the community.
